The Packout Service Process

  • We document all residential packout services via video and photographs. Documentation of the content we’ve placed in storage creates a record of all items we’ve handled. This ensures safe return to their owner after the completed restoration process.
  • We recommend omitting these items from packout services: money, checks, checkbooks, personal documents, credit cards, medications, jewelry, and valuable collectibles.
  • By request, we can address items that demand special attention. These may include valuable heirlooms, photographs, artwork, work materials, rugs, and other items.
  • We use packing materials, boxes, and other supplies to package belongings and content. This also protects furnishings during transport and storage.
  • Once we've boxed, inventoried, and prepared for transport all the items in the packout service, we issue a hardcopy of the inventory list. This list contains all the items that are being sent into storage. Then we move your items to our storage facility for safekeeping during restoration.
  • At ServiceMaster Of Whatcom County, we use an exclusive computer tracking system for your items sent into storage. This system lets us track your belongings and their location at every step. This starts with the initial packout service, to the storage facility, and back to your home or office.
  • We will then perform restoration services to damaged belongings and furnishings. Content restoration includes odor neutralization, repairs, and cleaning services. After we restore the content, we repack items for storage until further notice.
  • If certain items are not restorable, we document, inventory, and store if desired.
  • All items in the packout service are then placed back into storage. Once restoration and reconstructions services finish, we return your items back your property.
