Annual Home Maintenance Checklist

A new year has arrived and with it brings new beginnings. What better time to think about improving your home? If you are a homeowner then staying on top of home maintenance tasks throughout the year is important. You want to be sure to stay ahead of the game to avoid expensive repairs. January

  • Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/change batteries if needed

  • Change HVAC filters

  • Vacuum refrigerator coils

  • Clean garbage disposal

  • Clean range hood filters

February

  • Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/change batteries if needed

  • Check showers and bathtubs for cracks, repair with caulk if necessary

  • Change lightbulbs to energy-efficient bulbs, if not done already

  • Run water and flush toilets in rooms not used often

  • Touch up interior paint in rooms where needed

  • Clean garbage disposal

March

  • Inspect your roof/make repairs if needed

  • Change HVAC filters

  • Check drainage on the exterior of your home

  • Get your AC system ready by having it serviced

  • Fix any broken screens in your home

  • Check handles and knobs around your home and tighten if needed

  • Trim trees, shrubs, and bushes
