Bug Proof Your Home This Summer

Summer is a wonderful time of the year. Unfortunately, during the warm weather, you may see more bugs than before. Insects that have been in hiding during the winter will start to come out. No one wants creepy crawlies invading their homes, so follow our tips below to keep them out.

Seal Cracks

You would be surprised at how many entrances insects have into your home. Check your garage for cracks in the wall and seal them with caulk. Also, look behind furniture and appliances where cracks can be hidden.  Doors and windows can also be an easy place for bugs to crawl under. Consider installing a threshold or door sweep to prevent this. Also, check your screens for tears and add weather sealing along the edges of the windows.

Manage Landscape Around Home

Trim trees and bushes that are near your home.  They can provide an easy pathway into your home. You can also make a barrier at the bottom of your house to reduce the likelihood of insects entering that way.

Keep Your Home Clean

Insects will enter homes in search of food, so make sure to store up in a secure location and never leave food in your garage.  Sweep up crumbs and keep your meals in the kitchen and dining area. Even after food has been thrown away, the smells will still attract bugs, so keep your trash cans sealed.
