Helping Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Recovering After an E-F3 Tornado

On January 21, 2017, Hattiesburg, MS was hit with an E-F3 tornado. Many homes and businesses were affected by this catastrophic tornado including William Carey University. After the tornado hit, it did not take long for ServiceMaster franchises to mobilize from across the country. On January 27, six ServiceMaster by Rice staff members left for Hattiesburg to help manage and supervise the William Carey University project. They have been working with ServiceMaster Restoration by DSI at the University, which suffered major damage to 30 buildings plus the grounds. In addition to those six, ServiceMaster by Rice has two more supervisors heading down to help with the last leg of the project. Crews have been working day and night to get the University back up and running. ServiceMaster by Rice has had the pleasure of teaming with DSI for many years on large commercial losses. Austin Rice Jr, Partner at ServiceMaster by Rice, explained, “Having good relationships with other franchises allows us to tackle larger projects in a timely manner. We enjoy being able to work alongside DSI and other ServiceMaster partners.” ServiceMaster Restore has donated $10,000 to the city of Hattiesburg to help them with the disaster restoration process.
