Hurricane Ian Resources

For those who have been affected by Hurricane Ian, below is a list of resources:

  • An Insurance Village is being established at JetBlue Park 11500 Fenway South Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33913 – to assist consumers with insurance claims and other needs. Beginning Tuesday, October 4, the villages will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • An Insurance Village is being established at Port Charlotte Town Center, 1441 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948 – to assist consumers with insurance claims and other needs. Beginning Tuesday, October 4, the villages will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • If you do not have flood insurance, are underinsured, or do not wish to wait for your claim to be processed to rebuild, find information about the disaster relief home loan to rebuild or relocate.
  • If you are a renter living in a federal disaster area and your rented home was destroyed, you are eligible for 100% financing through the disaster relief home loan that is insured by the government.
  • Florida Division of Emergency Management FDEM has activated the State Assistance Information Line (SAIL) to provide an additional resource for Floridians to receive up-to-date information regarding Hurricane Ian. Residents and visitors can call this toll-free hotline at 1-800-342-3557. FDEM Assistance
  • Temporary Roof Vinyl Blue Tarp Free to Home Owners provided by the ARMY Corp of Engineers, Call 888-766-3258 to report damage or to sign-up for a new temporary roof. Army Corp of Engineers Emergency Operations
  • You may be eligible to suspend mortgage payments for up to a year. Please get in touch with your mortgage company and remember that not all loans are serviced by Fannie Mae and each lender has different guidelines.
  • You also may be eligible to suspend car or credit card payments. Please speak with each creditor individually to see what they will offer you.
  • Food Replacement benefits are available to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance recipients who suffered food losses related to Hurricane Ian. FLDCF Food Replacement
  • You may be eligible for the following (these are not loans) DisasterAssistance.gov.
    • Paid temporary housing, you do not need to be a homeowner.
    • Repair or replacement of your home for owner-occupied properties.
    • Financial assistance with uninsured or underinsured expenses on your home.
    • Hazard mitigation- extra funds to strengthen your home to be prepared for the next storm.
      • Remember that these loans usually have low rates, and payments do not usually start for 12-18 months.
  • You may be eligible for the following low-interest rate loans from the SBA.
    • For individuals who own a home they live in (A Primary Home): A low-interest rate loan to upgrade your home if it is owner-occupied. SBA Government Insured Disaster Relief Low-Interest Loans
    • For individuals who rent or own: A low-interest rate loan of up to $40,000 to replace personal property
    • For Landlords: A low-interest rate loan to offset deductibles that your homeowner's insurance may not cover: EIDL or economic injury assistance loans for loss of revenues from the property you cannot rent out.
    • For Businesses: A low-interest loan for either property replacement, whether a building or inventory or supplies, etc. and EIDL or economic injury assistance loans for loss of revenues because of inability to operate your business.
