Rook Leak Water Damage Restoration in Worcester, MA

Water Damage Restoration: Behind the Scenes

Water damage is a common problem that many homeowners face. Whether it's a burst pipe or a leaky roof, water damage can wreak havoc on your home and your life. That's where a water damage restoration company comes in. Our team at ServiceMaster Dynamic Cleaning completed the restoration of a Worcester, MA home that suffered water damage from a roof leak. In this article, we'll take a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into restoring a home after water damage.

Assessing the Damage

The first step in any water damage restoration job is assessing the damage. In this case, the water damage was caused by a leak in the roof, which impacted the bedrooms, sunroom, and dining room below. The job was classified as a category 3, which meant that the water was contaminated and had the potential to cause health hazards.

Setting up Containment

Before any work could begin, a containment barrier was set up to prevent the spread of dust and debris. The contents in the affected rooms were covered to protect them from the demolition process. To ensure that the rest of the home was not affected by dust and debris, specialty equipment was used during the demo, including air scrubbers and HEPA vacuums.

Cleaning and Drying

The water damage was extensive and affected several rooms in the home, including the sunroom, dining room, bedrooms, and living room. The sunroom required the removal of all plaster and insulation in order to dry the room properly. While in the dining room, we opened a section of the outside wall where the water had run down from the second-floor bedroom as well as a section of the wood flooring had begun to warp and buckle. The bedroom on the second floor where the leak began required the demo of two exterior walls and a section of the plaster ceiling. All impacted areas were thoroughly cleaned and treated with an anti-microbial to prevent mold growth.

HEPA vacuuming

Once the demo was complete, the next step was drying. Drying equipment was set up to remove any remaining moisture from the affected areas. HEPA vacuums were used to remove any finite construction dust particles, and a mold remover agent was applied.
