"Despite the fact that I never hoped to have to use their services, ServiceMaster of the Berkshires provided one of the best service experiences I have ever had.
After a sustained period of rain in our town, my family woke to several of inches of ground water seeping into our basement, and our basement sump pump could not keep up with the water coming in. We called ServiceMaster, and were told that they could not come until three days later, but it turned out they had a cancellation and were able to come the next day. They showed up with a crew of three, including the co-owner Lester, and spent the entire day pumping out the basement, raising the furniture above the water level, and installing blowers and dehumidifiers. Then another rain occurred, and they had to pump out the basement again.
At one point during the second pumping out process, the existing basement sump pump, which had been working constantly for more than a week, stopped working, and crew leader Sean, thinking quickly, sent me out to get another sump pump, which he installed by himself, thus saving us from another flood in the basement.
A day or so later, attempting to diagnose the cause of all the flooding, Sean and his crew discovered that there was an additional, outdoor sump pump chamber under a concrete slab, and we figured out that outdoor sump pump had malfunctioned, causing the basement sump pump, which seemed to be a back up system, to be overwhelmed with all the heavy pumping.
The crew also spent a day taking up sheetrock in the partly finished basement, and checked for any mold (luckily, they did not find any). Throughout the process, every member of the crew was polite and unfailingly professional and reassuring to me, an anxious homeowner. All in all, working with them was a great experience. As they left, I told them I hoped never to see them again, but if I ever needed disaster recovery services, they would be the only ones I would call."
